This travel writer should be fired
Or at least made to visit these places.
In this piece of travel writing rubbish, the "Editorial Staff" (a great way to avoid accountability is to not put your name on something or have an e-mail link to accept criticism) put BALTIMORE as the #1 overlooked city. They're encouraging a person to visit this place. Why?
"Track down the settings for John Waters' films (Hairspray, Pink Flamingos, and Female Trouble, among many others, were all shot here)"
If John Waters appears anywhere in the first 500,000 words on why a person should visit a place, it's clearly a horrible place to visit. And a little research would've showed the dopes at Shermans Travel that in 2006, Baltimore had the highest murder rate in the United States. Higher than Detroit; St. Louis; and Washington, D.C.
Shermans Travel, I don't care how good crab cakes are. The Murder Capital of the US can't be the best overlooked place to visit. It's overlooked because it's a death wish. Who you crappin'?
